An electrocardiogram (ECG), also abbreviated as EKG, is a portable monitor that measures, records and shows the electrical impulses of the heart. It is a machine that measures and assesses the rhythm of the heart along with its blood flow, muscle thickness, and chamber size including the structural problems with heart valves.
